Monterrey is home to the most prestigious universities in Latin America, most of which are internationally recognized and have top ranking because they have access to the best talent. On average, the universities of the state graduate 1,500 IT engineers per year, increasing the local software intellectual capital.

Moreover, Monterrey is generating a thriving IT Industry labor market, with highly competitive, globally focused, strong individuals who also have the advantage of not experimenting language barriers, thanks to the city’s increasing bilingual culture.

Monterrey is the preferred location for companies that want the best talent. Transnational companies come to the city to recruit IT professionals or even students and offer them positions as expatriates in their headquarters or offices outside Mexico.

The registration of new students in IT careers is considered to be decreasing nationwide, but, according to the latest study carried out by the Ministry of Education of Nuevo Leon in 27 of the 93 local universities, in the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 periods, the growth of IT students and graduates was 21% and 19% respectively.

The local universities in Monterrey have contributed greatly to develop this reputation. Following is a list of the Universities with the highest number of IT students in Nuevo Leon:
